Argentine Tango - Men dancing with men..!?

When the Argentine tango first started, men danced with men and it was not seen as odd in any way. Now it is a bit different. You usually will not see men dancing with men at a social event, but it is very common for men to practice with each other. It is essential to your learning that you feel what it is like to follow in any partner dance. I agree with the other post on here that it will make it a bit less uncomfortable if you extend into a practice hold( holding each other at the elbows) as opposed to the regular argentine tango hold. This will make your dancing progress quickly. In an partner dance cl that you take, for the most part, you will be required to switch partners and to fill in if the ratio is uneven. If you are still very uncomfortable, I would talk to the teacher privately before or after cl so that he/she doesn't put you on the spot in the middle of cl.
