Can I ask a guy if he remembers me?

I "met" a guy 2 years ago who I can't get out of my head...thing is, I've never had the courage to talk to him, much to my own detriment. Anyway, I found him online at a community site and sent him a message about how he's influenced me and pretty much gushed about how much I like him (saying he's handsome, strikes me as honorable, I want see if my instinct is right, etc). He replied saying that my comments were greatly appreciated and that if I seem him again, I should go talk to him. I have pics on my page which I'm sure he's seen, and I know he looked at me a few times the few places I saw him. I want to ask him if he knows me from where we saw each other, if he remembers me, but for some reason, I'm worried to. I want to know because I'm a "curvy" girl, and if he already knows that, I won't be so scared to go talk to him. Any advice?
