Can Jones Armadillo Lizards live off of waxworms?

I got a Jones Armadillo Lizard about a week and a half ago. He's just now starting to warm up to me and move around his tank, but I can't seem to get him to eat anything other than wax worms. I'd love to get him eating some crickets, do they tend to like crickets or is mine just picky? Also, I hear they do better in social groups, is this true? He (im guessing its a boy) lives in a 10 gallon tank, but if I get two will a 20 gallon long tank do? Thanks!
