Help with my girlfriends computer?!?

My girl has one of those small HP pavilion towers. Well we have one of those little CD's. And the CD cannot stay in place. But the crevice is there for that kind of cd. I don't think it can be layed on its side. Because if it could, then there would be stubs on its side or something.
