Question about the bodys defense against HIV?

I was watching a video where Montagnier said that the body could be exposed to hiv many times without catching it, due to factors like nutrition, good health, etc.. And one can catch it in these same factors due to malnutrition, etc.. like what is commonly found in poor areas like slums in Africa. Is this correct?
