Question for Giants fans?

Ok I read on the Giants website that Russ Ortiz is going on the 15-day disabled list and Kevin Frandsen got called up to take his roster spot. I also read that AAA pitcher Tim Lince will probably come up and pitch on Sunday. How does this work because there would be no more roster spots available for him?
