My cats don't get along, what would help?

I have two three year old cats who have lived with each other since kittens..now all of the sudden the fatter one is attacking the skinnier one and freaking her out..now i have to keep them separate to prevent a bloody fight..any ideas? i was thinking about trying to cat pheromone spray to see if that would calm them down
